  • You are 50 years old or older
  • You had a head injury with symptoms like pain, swelling, bruising, or a cut
  • Your injury happened within the last 3 hours (or the time can be reliably estimated)
  • You have mild head injury signs: confusion or impaired consciousness, or nausea/vomiting
  • You are not living in a nursing home, mental health facility, or prison
  • You are going to, or have already been admitted to, a participating hospital
