Ear nerve stimulation after a brain bleed

This trial studies whether stimulating a nerve near the ear (auricular VNS) can help after a spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage, a type of bleeding around the brain. If you qualify, you may receive the ear stimulation as an added treatment while doctors monitor your recovery.

Who can take part

  • You had a spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding around the brain not caused by injury).
  • Your bleeding must not be from trauma or an injury to the head.
  • You are not currently receiving chemotherapy.
  • You are not taking immune-suppressing medicines for other conditions.
  • You do not have a pacemaker.
  • You did not have very slow heart rate (prolonged bradycardia) at the time you were admitted.
