Who can take part

  • You must be 7 to 18 years old when you enroll
  • If in the high-blood-pressure group: your doctor has newly diagnosed primary hypertension (no secondary cause)
  • If in the control group: your blood pressure is normal based on repeated office readings on different days
  • You and your caregiver must be able and willing to complete all study checkups and assessments
  • You must be able to take part in study visits in English or Spanish
  • You cannot be pregnant
