Who can take part
- You must be at least 14 years old and able to give consent and complete follow-up visits.
- You must have normal rhythm at the time of screening (sinus rhythm) and have had at least 3 fainting episodes in the past 18 months (fainting during the tilt test doesn’t count).
- Your tilt table test must have been positive, with a specific “cardioinhibitory or mixed” pattern (VASIS I, IIA, or IIB), and not the other listed patterns (VASIS III, or certain VASIS II with AV-block).
- You must have “enough heart nerve reserve” on an atropine test, meaning your heart rate increases by at least 20%.
- You must not have significant valve narrowing (moderate-to-severe aortic or mitral stenosis), low heart pumping strength (ejection fraction under 45%), or heart failure that’s obvious/active.
- You must not have certain heart wiring/pace-device issues (pacemaker/ICD, specific conduction block patterns, very long PR interval, or alternating RBBB/LBBB), current pregnancy, or recent electrical rhythm treatment (cardioversion in last 6 months).
