Who can take part

  • You’ve had recurrent kneecap dislocations that are being treated with an MPFL ligament reconstruction using a gracilis tendon.
  • Your “patella instability severity” score fits one of the study’s ranges, or you have a small specific bone chip fracture pattern.
  • Your growth plates are closed (you’re fully grown).
  • You should not need additional procedures like trochleoplasty (reshaping the kneecap groove).
  • You should not have cartilage transplantation, bone cutting (osteotomy), or major arthritis in the kneecap joint.
  • You should not have major leg alignment problems or other ligament/rotation issues that make instability involve more than the kneecap.
