PCSK9 shots for calcified aortic valve narrowing

This study tests whether adding PCSK9 inhibitor injections (to statin treatment) can slow or improve calcific aortic valve stenosis, a condition where the heart’s aortic valve becomes stiff and narrowed. Who can take part

  • You’re over 18 years old and have aortic valve narrowing in one of these ranges: mild/moderate, or severe but without symptoms and a negative exercise test
  • You must already be on a stable statin dose (atorvastatin or rosuvastatin) for at least 4 weeks
  • Your LDL (“bad cholesterol”) is still high enough (or in the allowed range) plus you have at least 1 major or 3 minor heart-risk factors
  • You have not taken PCSK9 inhibitor treatment before
  • You can stay on the study medicines for 24 months and are not allergic to PCSK9 inhibitors or statins
  • You do not have major exclusions like serious liver/kidney problems, recent steroid/cyclosporine use, uncontrolled arrhythmias, planned valve surgery, or a life expectancy under 12 months
