Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Be admitted to the ICU/NICU for a sudden brain bleed or injury (traumatic brain injury, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, or spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage).
  • You’re scheduled for brain surgery through the upper part of the brain (supratentorial craniotomy or craniectomy).
  • After surgery, the plan is to keep you sedated and on a breathing machine.
  • You (or your family/legal guardian) can understand Danish or English so consent can be discussed.
  • No known allergy to ketamine (including “S-ketamine”).
