Who can take part
- You must have brain metastases proven on MRI with contrast (gadolinium-enhanced) and confirmed cancer cells from prior testing.
- Your brain has a single “recurrent” target spot that grew after SRS, is measurable, and is considered safe to reach with one laser path (about 3 cm or smaller across).
- Your last SRS treatment for that target spot was at least 3 months ago.
- Your neurosurgeon must think the spot can be biopsied and treated with laser ablation (or possibly two laser paths if needed).
- You must be well enough for surgery: stable symptoms for at least 3 days and you can use only a low steroid dose (up to a steroid equivalent of 4 mg dexamethasone per day).
- You need adequate blood tests and kidney function, and you must be able to do follow-up visits and study questionnaires.
