Reversal drug for urgent surgery in people on Factor Xa blood thinners

Who can take part

  • You’re an adult (18+) and can sign consent (or your legal representative can).
  • You’re currently taking a Factor Xa blood thinner by mouth (rivaroxaban, apixaban, or edoxaban).
  • You need urgent surgery within 15 hours of your last dose, or blood tests show high drug level.
  • If you can become pregnant, you must have a documented negative pregnancy test before starting.
  • You should not have life expectancy under 30 days (even with best care).
  • You must not have certain recent clotting/bleeding emergencies, major active bleeding, or serious blood count problems (like very low platelets).
