Study treatment for tiny thyroid cancer without surgery

This study looks at whether microwave ablation, a minimally invasive treatment, works as well as surgery for small, low-risk thyroid cancers. It uses special ultrasound and genetic tests to help decide the best treatment.

This trial is testing less invasive treatments for a very small, slow-growing type of thyroid cancer (papillary thyroid microcarcinoma). If you have this specific cancer and are a candidate for a non-surgical procedure, the study will check how well these treatments work.

This study compares three ways to manage small thyroid cancers (1 cm or less). It looks at whether surgery, a heat-based procedure to destroy the tumor, or simply watching it closely are all safe and keep quality of life high.

This study looks at whether closely watching (without immediate surgery or treatment) a very small thyroid cancer can be safe. You may benefit by avoiding unnecessary procedures, while the team monitors your thyroid and any changes over time.

This trial studies radiofrequency ablation, a procedure that shrinks a thyroid nodule, for thyroid nodules that are unclear on biopsy but have a reassuring “molecular” test. If you have a Bethesda III nodule that tests benign on specific genetic tests, you may be a good candidate to see if this approach helps safely.

This study tests whether radiofrequency ablation (a heat-based treatment applied through the skin) can safely and effectively cure small, low-risk papillary thyroid cancers. It is designed for people whose tumors are small, have not spread, and who either cannot have surgery or prefer not to.
