Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- Your brain glutathione level must be low on a brain scan (magnetic resonance spectroscopy).
- You must have the m.3243A>G genetic change confirmed by genetic testing (or you are suspected until confirmed).
- You cannot have normal brain glutathione levels on the scan.
- You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You cannot be allergic to NAC or other sulfur-containing medicines.
