Understanding brain learning after stroke during arm training

Who can take part

  • You had a first stroke (ischemic or bleeding) within the last 3 years
  • Your medical condition is stable, and you are not currently receiving stroke treatment
  • You can see well enough (normal vision or with correction such as glasses/contacts)
  • You have arm weakness and stiffness, but you can move your elbow up and down enough to reach about 30 degrees in each direction
  • You should not have other major brain or muscle problems that would make the arm task hard
  • You should not have severe elbow sensation problems, strong space-judging problems, uncorrected vision, or significant depression
