  • Be under 18 years old
  • Be in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for sudden breathing failure OR be having general anesthesia with a breathing machine
  • Have monitoring that includes the EIT chest sensor
  • Have a parent/guardian who agrees (no refusal)
  • The required chest belt/sensor must be safe to use for your child and be available
