Artery ablation for type 2 diabetes with kidney and liver arteries

Who can take part

  • Be 21 to 65 years old
  • Have type 2 diabetes for 10 years or less and be taking metformin (with possible add-on oral pills)
  • Have diabetes lab levels in a specific range (HbA1c 7.0%–9.0% and fasting glucose 140–270 mg/dL) and triglycerides under 400 mg/dL
  • Have high blood pressure that fits study numbers and stays on up to three blood-pressure medicines (not beta blockers or alpha blockers)
  • Have a BMI between 27.5 and 40, and enough “C-peptide” on a blood test (at least 2 ng/mL)
  • Have suitable kidney and liver artery size and access for the procedure (no major blockages or unsafe anatomy)
