Who can take part
- Age 21 to 65 when you enroll
- Type 2 diabetes with specific lab levels: fasting glucose, HbA1c, triglycerides, and diabetes duration (10 years or less)
- You must be on metformin by mouth (additional diabetes pills are allowed)
- Body weight: BMI between 27.5 and 40
- Have workable kidney or liver artery anatomy for the procedure (specific vessel size and length)
- You likely cannot have insulin use, HbA1c above 9.0%, major recent low/high sugar emergencies, or certain significant eye/nerve complications
