Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older and can give consent (or have a legal representative)
- You had an allogeneic stem cell transplant for blood cancer, and now your doctor suspects acute GvHD (grade II–IV), sometimes even if it’s only grade I requiring steroid treatment
- You started steroids for the suspected aGvHD, and you must start this trial within 72 hours of starting those steroids
- Your blood and organ tests are within limits (bilirubin, AST, ALT, and kidney function/creatinine clearance) and you can swallow and keep pills down
- You have evidence your bone marrow is working again (myeloid engraftment, such as a certain neutrophil level over 3 days)
- You are not on certain other aGvHD treatments: you should not have had more than 72 hours of systemic steroid for aGvHD, and you must not have taken leflunomide before
