Who can take part
- You can read/understand the study and sign informed consent
- You’re age 18 to 75, and you’re able to do daily activities fairly well (Karnofsky score 80 or higher)
- Your scans and biopsy show hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, and it has spread to neck lymph nodes but not to distant organs
- Your bloodwork and organ tests are within set limits (liver, kidneys, and blood counts)
- The neck lymph node area is considered resectable (surgeons think they can remove it or manage it) and the tumor measurements can be tracked on scans
- You plan to receive treatment with a cure intent (not comfort-only care) and you can follow study visits and rules
