- You have essential (primary) high blood pressure
- You are between 18 and 70 years old
- You can read, understand, and sign the consent form
- Your high blood pressure is not from another cause (secondary hypertension), except sleep apnea
- You have not had a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, or heart procedure in the last 6 months
