Who can take part

  • You must have been admitted to the ICU (Christus) between March 2021 and December 2021
  • You must have been put on a breathing machine (invasive ventilator) within the last 24–48 hours
  • You must be deeply sedated and not very responsive (Sedation-Agitation Scale 1 or 2)
  • You must be at risk for ICU-acquired weakness (for example: on a ventilator, sepsis, high blood sugar, high APACHE II score, steroid use, or inactivity from deep sedation)
  • A patient or legally authorized surrogate must be able to provide consent in writing
