Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are currently supported by a peripheral VA-ECMO (a heart-lung bypass through an access site in the body).
  • Your ICU diagnosis is cardiogenic shock (shock caused by the heart not pumping effectively).
  • You are expected to live longer than 90 days.
  • You have a central venous line so staff can measure ScvO2 (a blood oxygen level)
  • You must be able and allowed to take part with consent
