New treatment plan for nasopharyngeal cancer after EBV DNA stays detectable

This Phase 3 trial tests a stronger treatment approach for people with locally advanced nasopharyngeal cancer whose EBV “DNA” (a cancer-related virus signal in blood) does not go away after one cycle of chemotherapy. It may help improve outcomes by changing treatment based on how the cancer responds early.

Who can take part

  • You have newly diagnosed non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal cancer (WHO type II or III) that is EGFR-positive
  • You are 18–70 years old
  • Your cancer is stage III to IVA (based on the AJCC 8th edition staging)
  • Your blood test showed detectable EBV DNA before treatment, and it is still detectable after the first chemotherapy cycle
  • Your health is fairly strong (ECOG score 0–1) and you meet blood counts and organ function limits (liver, kidney, and enough blood cells)
  • You can sign consent and will be able to attend visits and blood tests as the schedule requires
