  • You are 18 years or older and are currently on ECMO
  • You do not have a reason you cannot receive red blood cell transfusions
  • You should not be on ECMO longer than 12 hours when the study would start
  • Your care team expects ECMO to last past the near term (not stop before the end of tomorrow)
  • You are not being kept from participating by personal wishes or care-team limits
  • You are not currently listed for a solid organ transplant and you are not pregnant
