Who can take part

  • You are in the cardiac intensive care unit after heart surgery for congenital heart disease
  • Baby is 1 year old or younger and/or weighs 10 kg or less
  • You were able to have the breathing tube removed and you are not staying on it for 4 weeks or more
  • Baby does not have a tracheostomy placed before the heart surgery
  • Baby is not on ECMO support before the heart surgery
  • Baby is not in another research study and does not have very serious extra birth defects
