Arm versus leg access for clot removal in basilar stroke

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older with an emergency stroke in the back of the brain (posterior circulation).
  • Scans show a blockage in the basilar artery.
  • You can be randomized within 24 hours of when symptoms started (and the team estimates the basilar blockage timing).
  • Your stroke severity is moderate to severe (NIHSS score 10 or higher).
  • You can have the procedure done through either the arm or leg, including a hand circulation test called the modified Allen’s test.
  • You (or your legal representative) can sign consent to join the study.
