Tenecteplase before transfer for basilar artery stroke

This trial tests if a clot-busting drug called Tenecteplase helps people with a severe type of stroke in the back of the brain (basilar artery occlusion) when given 4.5 to 24 hours after symptoms start. Patients will then be moved to a hospital that can remove the clot. The goal is to see if the drug improves recovery.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your stroke is caused by a blockage in the basilar artery (a major artery in the back of your brain), confirmed by a special scan.
  • Your stroke symptoms started between 4.5 and 24 hours before you receive the study drug.
  • Your stroke symptoms are at least moderately severe (score of 6 or more on a standard stroke scale).
  • You were able to do daily activities on your own before this stroke (score of 0 to 2 on a disability scale).
  • You are scheduled to be moved to a hospital that can do a procedure to remove the clot.
