Who can take part

  • You must be at least 60 years old.
  • You must have a condition called communicating hydrocephalus and be scheduled for VP shunt surgery.
  • You must be awake and able to follow commands (conscious clear).
  • You must be fluent in speaking or understanding Chinese.
  • You must be expected to stay in the hospital for at least 3 days after surgery.
  • You must not have unstable heart or lung conditions, severe liver or kidney problems, or certain brain diseases like Parkinson's or dementia.
