This study looks at how a past traumatic brain injury (TBI) might affect your thinking skills and blood vessel health over time. You may be eligible if you had a TBI at least 3 years ago and have already completed an earlier evaluation at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE).

Who can take part

  • You are an active-duty service member or veteran who can get care at Walter Reed (WRNMMC).
  • You had at least one mild, moderate, severe, or penetrating TBI more than 3 years ago.
  • You have already had a full evaluation at the NICoE or NatHx Study at least 3 years ago, including valid brain test results.
  • You can speak and understand English.
  • You agree to let researchers use data and a blood sample from your earlier studies.
  • You do not have certain other brain or health conditions like a major stroke, brain tumor, schizophrenia, or diabetes needing medication.
