Who can take part
- You are 18 or older.
- You had a cardiac arrest and are in the ICU on a breathing machine, with sedation and temperature management.
- A continuous brain wave test (EEG) was started within 12 hours of your cardiac arrest.
- That EEG showed a 'favorable' pattern (continuous brain activity) within 12 hours.
- Your doctors can stop sedation within 3 hours after seeing that favorable pattern.
- You do not have any other medical condition (like a brain tumor) that severely limits your life expectancy or makes follow-up impossible.
