Who can take part
- Your leukemia must have a protein called CD19 on the surface of the cancer cells.
- You either had a stem cell transplant that failed, or you've tried at least two other treatments (like a monoclonal antibody) and have a fully matched family donor ready.
- You must be active enough to do daily activities (doctors score this as 60% or higher on the Lansky or Karnofsky scale).
- If you are of childbearing age, you must agree to use birth control for at least 4 months after the treatment.
- You cannot have serious infections (like active hepatitis B, C, or HIV), or severe organ problems (like heart, liver, or kidney failure), or be pregnant or breastfeeding.
