Who can take part

  • You have new heart failure with a weak heart pump (ejection fraction 40% or less) and symptoms like shortness of breath or fatigue (NYHA class 2 or higher).
  • You have atrial fibrillation or flutter with a heart rate of 110 beats per minute or faster.
  • After treating the fast heartbeat (e.g., with ablation or medication), your heart function improved: ejection fraction is now 50% or more, your heart size normalized, your ECG is normal, and a blood test (NT-proBNP) is below 250 pg/ml.
  • You are 18 or older and can give consent.
  • You do not have significant heart valve disease, inherited heart muscle disease, or other serious heart conditions.
