Biologic patch for first-time kneecap dislocation surgery

Patellofemoral Dislocation

This trial tests adding a biologic material (a substance that helps healing) to the standard surgery that repairs the ligament on the inner side of the kneecap. It is for people who have just dislocated their kneecap for the first time, to see if the biologic improves recovery.

Who can take part

  • First-time kneecap dislocation on the same leg within the last 7 days.
  • Age between 13 and 30 years old.
  • Growth plates are closed or nearly closed (checked on X-ray).
  • No broken cartilage or bone fragment in the kneecap area that needs surgery.
  • Willing and able to fill out online questionnaires.
