Who can take part

  • You have active TB in your lungs, confirmed by a test (Xpert) showing 'medium' or 'high' bacteria levels within the last week.
  • Your TB bacteria are sensitive to the standard drugs isoniazid and rifampin (not resistant).
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy in the next year, and you agree to use effective birth control if needed.
  • You are at least 18 years old and weigh at least 35 kg (about 77 pounds).
  • Your liver, kidney, and blood counts are within acceptable ranges, and you have no serious heart rhythm issues or other major medical problems.
