Who can take part
- Girls ages 10–11 or boys ages 11–12.
- Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for at least 6 months.
- No other illnesses or medications that affect bones or growth (e.g., kidney disease, celiac disease, thyroid problems, or early puberty).
- Have not yet started the major growth spurt of puberty.
- Parent or guardian must also agree to the study.
