Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 64 years old.
  • You are in the hospital for acute decompensated heart failure with signs of fluid overload (like leg swelling, fluid in the belly or lungs, or high pressure in neck veins).
  • You do not have acute kidney injury at the time of admission.
  • Your kidneys are working well enough (eGFR over 30 mL/min) and you are not on dialysis.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or using certain water pills like acetazolamide or metolazone in the last month.
