Brain stimulation for recent stroke recovery

Acute Ischemic Stroke

This trial tests a safe, non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tDCS to help people recover from a recent stroke. It's for people who cannot have the standard clot-removal procedure and who can start treatment within 24 hours of their stroke.

Who can take part

  • You had a new stroke that started within the last 24 hours.
  • You are not eligible for or cannot have a procedure to remove the clot (thrombectomy).
  • You can have an MRI, meaning you don't have any metal implants, pacemakers, or other devices that would interfere.
  • You have no major bleeding risk, recent head injury, or history of seizures.
  • You are not pregnant, and you don't have a serious infection or other life-threatening illness.
