Exercise program for 30 days of leg muscle disuse

This study looks at how a specific exercise program affects your muscles after a period of not using them (simulated by a leg brace). You'll wear a brace on one leg for 30 days and do certain exercises to see if they help prevent muscle loss.

Who can take part

  • You exercise regularly (aerobic more than 150 minutes per week, and strength training at least once a week) for the past year
  • You have a bachelor's degree or higher
  • Your waist is between 55 and 90 cm (about 22 to 35 inches) if female, or between 75 and 100 cm (about 30 to 39 inches) if male
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 29.9
  • You do not use tobacco, have no blood clotting disorder, heart rhythm problem, or implanted device like a pacemaker
  • You are not pregnant, have not used oral birth control in the last 3 months, and have not had gender-affirming therapy
