Who can take part

  • You are 60 years old or older
  • You are scheduled for a moderate or major surgery (like hip replacement or abdominal surgery) with general or spinal anesthesia
  • You have mild memory or thinking problems (based on a short pre-surgery test)
  • You do not have metal implants in your head, a history of seizures, or a brain injury
  • You do not have diagnosed dementia or advanced memory loss
  • You can attend all study appointments and understand Portuguese
