Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for hip fracture surgery (such as hip replacement or fracture repair).
  • Your platelet count is above 80 × 10⁹/L (a normal blood clotting level).
  • Your overall health is rated as ASA I, II, or III (fair to good anesthetic risk).
  • Your thinking and memory are generally good (score of 18 or higher on a short mental test).
  • You are willing to take part and sign a consent form.
