Surgery for spontaneous brain bleed: outcomes and factors

Who can take part

  • You have a spontaneous brain bleed (not caused by injury, aneurysm, tumor, or blood vessel problem).
  • You are between 20 and 70 years old.
  • Your bleed is larger than 30 ml.
  • Your Glasgow Coma Scale (consciousness level) is 6 or higher before surgery.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder or take blood-thinning medication.
  • You do not have severe liver or kidney failure, or fluid in the brain (hydrocephalus) from the bleed.
