Who can take part

  • You must have a blood cancer that needs a stem cell transplant.
  • You need a relative who is a half-match (shares 5 to 8 out of 10 HLA markers) and willing to donate stem cells.
  • This must be your first stem cell transplant from a donor (prior own-stem-cell transplant is okay).
  • You must be physically active enough to care for yourself (Karnofsky score 70% or higher).
  • Your heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys must work well enough for transplant.
  • If you are a person who can become pregnant, you must not be pregnant and must use effective birth control.
