This study compares two types of radiation therapy for adults with primary brain tumors that have a good outlook (expected survival longer than 5 years). You will receive either standard photon radiation or the more targeted proton radiation, to see if one works better or causes fewer side effects.

Who can take part

  • You have a primary brain tumor (not one that spread from elsewhere in the body).
  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You are well enough to carry out at least some daily activities on your own (Karnofsky score of 60 or higher).
  • Your tumor type is expected to allow you to live longer than 5 years (like a low-grade glioma, meningioma, pituitary tumor, etc.).
  • You are scheduled for radiation therapy that targets a single area of the brain (not the whole brain or spine).
