Who can take part

  • You or your loved one has been diagnosed with a disorder of consciousness, like unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (once called vegetative state) or minimally conscious state.
  • The cause can be either a traumatic brain injury (like from an accident) or a non-traumatic injury (like from a stroke or lack of oxygen).
  • You or your loved one is not currently in a coma.
  • It has been at least one week since the brain injury happened.
  • There is no metal implant in the head or a pacemaker.
  • Epilepsy (seizures) is not present.
