Who can take part

  • You must be 65 years or older.
  • You must have metabolic syndrome, which means having at least 3 of these: a large waist (men 90 cm or more, women 85 cm or more), high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, or low good cholesterol.
  • You must have symptoms of Qi-deficiency and Blood Stasis, such as feeling tired, short of breath, having stabbing pain, bruising, or a purple tongue.
  • You must be at high risk for heart problems, for example having had a heart attack, stroke, certain artery blockages, or heart failure.
  • You cannot have Type 1 diabetes, severe heart failure, recent heart or stroke events (within 14 days), or certain other serious conditions.
