Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You had a stroke that started less than 24 hours ago, and it is in the back part of your brain.
  • An imaging test (like a CT or MRI) shows a blocked main artery in the back of your brain.
  • The stroke area is large, as shown on a CT or MRI with certain scores.
  • Your stroke symptoms are severe (a score of 10 or more on a standard test).
  • Before this stroke, you could live independently (walk, dress, bathe yourself).
