Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have a blockage in the main artery at the back of your brain (basilar artery) or in the end parts of both vertebral arteries.
  • It must be 7 days or less from when your symptoms started (or from when you were last known to be well) to when you receive treatment.
  • You must have a large area of stroke damage in the back part of your brain (posterior circulation large core infarct), confirmed by a specific CT or MRI score (pc-ASPECTS 0-5).
  • You must not have bleeding in the brain on your initial scan (except for tiny spots called microbleeds).
