  • Age 18 or older
  • Had a stroke in the back of the brain (basilar or vertebral artery) confirmed by imaging
  • Symptoms started getting worse 1–2 weeks after the initial stroke, with a clear increase in disability score
  • Brain imaging shows moderate damage but not severe or extensive damage
  • Can be enrolled in the trial within 24 hours of when symptoms worsened
  • No bleeding in the brain, recent major surgery, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or serious bleeding disorders
