Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You need a blood cancer or bone marrow disorder like acute leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, or certain lymphomas, and your disease must be in a stable phase (few or no blast cells in blood or marrow).
  • You must have a related or unrelated stem cell donor who is at least a half-match (haploidentical) or a close match (7/8 or 8/8).
  • Your heart function must be at least 40% ejection fraction, and your lung function must be at least 50% of predicted (for one test) and 40% (for another).
  • You must be able to care for yourself (Karnofsky score of 70% or higher).
  • You cannot have had a prior stem cell transplant, active infections, or other serious medical conditions that would interfere.
