Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have been on a breathing machine (ventilator) for more than 2 days.
  • Your blood pressure is stable (not needing strong medicines to keep it up).
  • Your sedation level is between restless and lightly sedated (RASS score 1 to −2).
  • You do not have a pacemaker, unhealed chest or belly wounds, recent airway surgery, or high pressure in your skull.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have no plans to stop life support.
