Who can take part

  • You are being treated for a traumatic injury and arrive in the emergency room for your first care.
  • Your Glasgow Coma Scale (a measure of consciousness) is 12 or less.
  • A CT scan of your head shows a skull fracture or a brain bleed larger than 1 centimeter in any direction, caused by an injury like a fall or crash.
  • You are not transferred from another hospital.
  • Your brain injury is not considered immediately fatal by the doctor, and you are not going straight to surgery for other serious injuries before the full trauma check is done.
