Imaging artery plaque inflammation with a fluorescent dye

This study tests a special dye that lights up inflammation in artery plaques. During your planned surgery, the dye will be applied to the removed plaque to see if it can help identify dangerous areas.

Who can take part

  • You have severe narrowing or bulging in the arteries of your neck or legs and are having surgery to fix it.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are able to understand and agree to the study.
  • For women who could become pregnant: a negative pregnancy test is required.
  • Your kidney function must be normal or only mildly reduced.
  • You cannot have a history of allergy to contrast dye or to a substance called polyethylene glycol (PEG).
